Raising funds for the churches of St. Peter’s and St. Mary’s

Welcome to St. Peter’s Online Village Plant Sale

Objectives

The objectives of stpetersmarketplace.org are twofold:

  • to raise funds to help support church activities in the parishes of Langham and Boxted including the maintenance of our lovely, ancient and listed church buildings of St Peter’s, Boxted and St Mary’s, Langham
  • by providing gardeners with an alternative to discarding their surplus plants by making them available to fellow gardeners in exchange for charitable donations similar to village plant sale levels and much less than normal retail prices.

All plants and expenses will be donated so that all proceeds from plant sales will go to Langham with Boxted PCC, a registered charity, to support its charitable objectives.

Plant Donations

Our success will depend upon a flow of plant donations which we request follow the simple Donation Guidelines.

Donation Guidelines

The Guidelines are as follows:

We welcome all plant donations but request that donors endeavour to follow these simple guidelines.

  • our preference is for small numbers of different plants, probably not more than five of the same variety.
  • all plants should be healthy and of a size that you would be pleased to buy.
  • ll plants should be in pots, seed trays or equivalent and clearly labelled with either their common  English name or official Latin name and, if known, the colour. If the colour is uncertain we will offer the plant as colour unknown

When posting on the website we will add further information as to the plants and hopefully a colour image of the plant in flower.

Sale Conditions

We are not a commercial website but endeavouring to replicate a traditional village plant sale online. However, our volunteers will use reasonable efforts to ensure that the plants supplied are healthy and conform to their description.

Prices are as stated on the website. Discounts are available for each individual sale/collection of 10 per cent for sales over £10 and 20 per cent for sales over £20.

Personal information for anyone registering to receive plant update emails will only be used to promote the sale of plants on the website. In all other respects the organisers will comply with data protection laws and good practice.

Co-ordinator

The project is co ordinated by Boxted resident Stephen Whybrow who will be responsible for accepting plant donations, handling orders, and responding to queries.

Orders may be placed by emailing stpetersmarkets@gmail.com, please include a contact number and we will call back or use the online form on our Contact page.
